Julia Preston Brumley Travel Scholarship

The first Julia Preston Brumley Travel Scholarship was awarded in spring 2008 to American Studies major and sophomore Chris Chirdon for study at King's College, London, in Fall 08. Chris will study American photography, comparative American cities, and other courses relating to his major at the premier American Studies program in the U.K. He is shown here with Professor Emeritus Townsend Ludington, Jane Ludington, and Joy Kasson, Chair of American Studies. The scholarship honors the memory of Julia Preston Brumley, a 1983 American Studies graduate who studied abroad in Paris and Manchester, England. Julia provided a stellar example of intellectual curiosity and adventurousness, and we are pleased to recognize these qualities in our award winner.
