Visiting Scholars from Ulster, 2002

Johnston Center ClassroomAmerican Studies played host to four visiting scholars from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland June 15-19, 2002. Professors Bill Lazenbatt, John Springhall, Dianne Kirby, and Hilary Bracefield met with American Studies faculty to discuss issues in research and teaching in American Studies. The visit included seminar discussions, a visit to Old Salem, a gospel concert by the Branchettes, tours of the Southern Historical Collection and the Rare Book Room, and local hospitality, including breakfast at Dip's Country Kitchen. UNC and the University of Ulster exchange undergraduate students for Study Abroad, and a delegation of UNC American Studies faculty had visited Northern Ireland last summer.
